Andy B
Andy Baxter was born in Birmingham on the first of December 1978. He bought his first record at the age of nine and has not stopped living for music ever since.
His initial interests in music were early HipHop/Electro (Breakdance) and Acid House. As the urban culture grew into house, Andy remained in tune with musical trends and continued to build onto his diverse collection of music.
Andy was fortunate enough to own a pair of turntables from the age of 13, and has spent more time mixing records than sleeping ever since Andy remained loyal to his local Birmingham roots, and has conquered everything that the city has to offer. He was a fortnightly resident in the funky room at Godskitchen, and played in other famous Birmingham clubs such as Miss Moneypennys and Hidden.
Andy also hosted a weekly radio show on bpmradio.co.uk internet radio, with about 100 000 listeners, showcasing his diverse styles by playing House, HipHop, RnB, Drum &Bass, Breaks and even some Lounge.In 2002 Andy left his native Birmingham to conquer the capital of dance music, Ibiza.
Within 1 month of arriving, Andy earned a job spinning on the terrace in Pacha. By the end of the season Andy was spinning in the mainroom and was offered a return to Pacha in Ibiza for the winter. Andy is also the resident at the weekly Fiasco parties, which have defined the HipHop/RnB/Soul scene in Ibiza
Andy’s music style can best be described as a diverse mix of quality tunes that somehow maintain to evoke feeling and soul. Andy’s favourite producers include MAW, Derrick Carter, and Louis Benedeti, Jay J Hernandez, Miguel Migs, Timbaland, Dr Dre and the Neptunes to mention a few.
In 2003 Andy played as resident in Pacha four nights a week as well as playing at some of the most exclusive parties in Ibiza, including sets on Puff Daddy’s yacht, Sasha’s birthday party and at the DefJam villa party. Andy B has a great ear for music, is technically gifted, and is determined enough to push himself further with his music. He is totally comfortable playing either HipHop or House and epitomises the future of the modern DJ.
