Brooke Grabow
Brooke
Grabow was born December 11, 1977 in Miami, Florida.
Growing up in Miami, she was an adamant listener to the Hip Hop Shop,
12'o'clock Funk, Conscious Rhythms, the Underground, and the Electric
Kingdom; all shows on WVUM, University of Miami college radio.
She would
fine tune into all the pirate radio stations that emerged from 1994 -
1998 and became infatuated with radio.
In 1996, upon arriving at Boston University, she started her first Funk
radio show. Brooke operated the "big board" with 2 turntables,
2 CD players, 2 tape decks, 2 cart machines, a microphone, and an on-air
phone line. In the basement of Myles Standish Hall at BU, the same place
where Howard Stern had started, she began her adventure as a DJ.
Brooke's
passion in radio, led to much time spent mixing records at home. In 1999,
she got her first gig playing a club in Boston's Chinatown.
The summers from 97-2000, she spun after hours parties at her sister's
infamous house, on the corner of Fairfax and Hollywood, in Los Angeles.
She also spun at Guys in Los Angeles for other friends' parties.
Upon
moving back to Miami in the fall of 2000, she became a resident DJ at
the Astor Hotel for their weekly Friday night poolside soirée.
Presently, Brooke is a resident DJ at South Beach hot spots Skybar,
Prive, and Mansion. She is also a featured DJ in the movie; Put the
Needle on
the Record, which is currently touring independent film festivals around
the globe. For 2 years in a row, she has been the DJ for United Talent
Agency's MTV Movie Awards after-party at Chateau Marmount, and their
Toronto Film Festival Party in 2003.
Recently, she DJed Madonna's official
cast and crew party for her Re-invention Tour. Undoubtedly, Brooke
has become a sought after DJ to rock the best events, parties, and clubs.
With her vast knowledge of music, skilled mixing and overall flavour,
she gets the bodies moving, the drinks pouring, and people always coming
back for more.
