Filthy Rich
Biography [Hip-Hop DJ/Producer/Remixer]
Richard Langton Dillow was born on 20th September 1978 in Kempsey, Worcestershire.
Rich is of mixed origin. His father, Peter is English and his mother
Carole is from Sri Lanka, descending from Dutch and Portuguese Settlers.
This ethnic diversity is reflected by Rich in almost everything he does.
Associating with and relating to a number of cultures has made him what
he is today.
He began DeeJaying whilst at University in Portsmouth in 1998 and soon
became reknowned for his mixing and chopping of a range of edgy hip-hop,
r&b and ragga tunes (amongst other genres). Following his graduation
in 2000 he has played in various bars and clubs in the Guildford and
Woking area, where he resides.
"Playing at Clubs and Bars is different
to the house parties that my style was borne of – people are far
more critical and sometimes you really have to compensate your own taste
of music in order to keep
the punters happy"
- DJ Filthy Rich (1/03/2001).
As a DJ his biggest gig to date was in the summer of 2004 where he was
recruited to open and close the Mario Winans concert at Cirque, Leicester
Square. As usual he was up to the task and was well received and acclaimed
for his efforts.
Filthy began producing his own songs in 2000. Having
been in the studio for a mere 12 hours he concocted his first beat, and
has made consistent progress
since then. He now owns his own studio and is co-owner of production company
Epidemic Sound, who offer a range of facilities including corporate jingles,
remixing, ad hoc production and mixtape creations for record label promotional
use.
