Anthony
Strong Quartet
Anthony was born in South London in 1984 and began
his musical career learning Clarinet and Piano at age 9. At 10 Anthony
was singing in the West End at the Palladium in "Oliver!".
Less than a year later, Anthony won a
national competition in which he found himself playing principle clarinet
in
an orchestral concert at the Hollywood Bowl in America, performing to
18,000
people. He has frequently appeared in Royal performances as a solo artist
and has performed at numerous venues including: The Theatre Royal, Drury
Lane, Wigmore Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Opera House, St.
John's
Smiths Square, The Purcell Room, Birmingham Symphony Hall and The Royal
Festival Hall.
As a schoolboy, Anthony attended Whitgift School in
Croydon, where he was a full music scholar. He also received tuition
at Junior Academy
of Music, where he studied piano and voice. At 16 he was awarded a government
music scholarship to the Purcell School of Music in Hertfordshire, where
he was head boy! Most recently in 2003, he accepted a place on the Undergrad
Jazz course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama studying piano/voice
with Pete Churchill, Simon Purcell and Anita Wardell.
A keen writer and producer, Anthony has worked at some
of London’s
top
recording studios, such as Abbey Roads, and CTS (Wembley). He has done
sessions for various producers/DJ's including guitarist/producer Fraser
T
Smith (Airman/Craig David) and Ian Shaw (Charlotte Church). Anthony has
played on CD: UK, Top of The Pops, This Morning, and The Jonathon Ross
show.
He continues to co-run a small music production
suite in South London, where
he is sole producer and engineer. In addition, he has a great deal of
experience as a musical director, accompanist and is a talented
composer/arranger. Anthony is constantly turning heads in and around
London
and at only twenty years old, is gaining a reputation as one of Britain’s
up-and-coming singer-pianist’s.
